About Plate & Press
Most cities this size don't have a food publication. Ann Arbor has James Beard-recognized restaurants, a network of farms that actually supply its kitchens, and a dining scene deeper than cities five times its population. Nobody was covering it consistently. So we started.
Plate & Press tracks what's open, what's closed, and what's good across Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Dexter, Chelsea, and Detroit. We maintain a database of every restaurant we cover — neighborhoods, cuisines, hours, status — and we update it when things change. We write opinionated guides and ranked series because opinions without structure are just noise.
How this works
No paid placements. No sponsored content. When we get something wrong, we fix it. When we haven't been somewhere, we say so.
