Dexter Brunch House Does Not Cut Corners on Breakfast

On Main Street, a scratch kitchen that puts all its energy into the morning.

A breakfast-and-lunch restaurant is making a bet. The kitchen gets two meals to work with instead of three, and neither of them carries the check averages that dinner does. Dexter Brunch House, at 8124 Main Street, opened in February 2025 under owners Enzo and Nela Shahinllari, and the bet is working.1Opening date and ownership per the restaurant's own announcements and local coverage.

The Kitchen

Everything is made from scratch. That phrase gets tossed around loosely in the breakfast world, where a lot of kitchens open boxes labeled Sysco and pour batter from a bag. Dexter Brunch House draws the line: sausage gravy cooked in-house, hollandaise whisked to order, orange juice squeezed that morning.2Prices approximate as of fall 2025, based on menu observations.

Eggs Benedict with house hollandaise runs around $14. The hollandaise has the richness and slight tang that tells you someone actually made it, not spooned it from a container. Pancakes are thick and golden, the kind where the edges just barely crisp. A standard breakfast plate with eggs, toast, and a protein comes in under $12.

The espresso program adds a layer that most diners skip. Lattes pulled in-house mean you do not need to make a separate coffee stop on Main Street, though Joe and Rosie is just down the block if you want a second cup.

The Space

The dining room is small and bright, sized for a town that eats breakfast in waves rather than crowds. Tables fill on weekend mornings, but this is Dexter, not Ann Arbor. The wait, if there is one, moves fast. Service is direct and friendly in the way that a family-run restaurant tends to be.

Main Street's Morning Anchor

Downtown Dexter has options for dinner and drinks. 42 North Social House runs a serious kitchen. The Beer Grotto anchors the evening. Jolly Pumpkin covers the brewery lane. What the street was missing before February 2025 was a dedicated breakfast spot, a place that opens early and puts the full weight of its kitchen behind the morning meal.

Dexter Brunch House fills that gap. A year in, it has settled into the rhythm of downtown: the place where locals start the day before walking to work, the Saturday morning stop that precedes a trip to the Dexter Cider Mill or a walk along the Huron. Breakfast-and-lunch restaurants live or die on repeat business, and the tables here have regulars.
