Aubree's Dexter Gives Main Street Its Pizza Option

If you have eaten at Aubree's in Ypsilanti, you know the formula. Pizza, feta bread, cold beer, televisions, and a menu long enough to handle a group of six where nobody agrees on what to eat. The Dexter location at 8031 Main Street runs the same playbook, planted on a block that already has The Beer Grotto for craft beer and Dexter's Pub for burgers and ribs. What it adds is a dedicated pizza restaurant, which Dexter did not have before.

The Food

The feta bread travels well across locations. Crumbled feta baked onto dough, warm and salty, around $9. Order it first. The pizza menu splits between specialty pies and build-your-own options. It is not trying to compete with the wood-fired pies at Jolly Pumpkin. Different lane, different purpose.

Beyond pizza, the kitchen covers burgers, sandwiches, wraps, wings, and salads. A burger with fries is around $14. The wing sauces number in the double digits. This is a restaurant designed for the table that cannot decide, and Dexter's dining options benefit from having one.

The Room

Televisions, tables, a bar. Game days get loud. Weeknights settle into a comfortable murmur. Families and groups fill the main dining area. The split between sports bar and neighborhood restaurant works because neither identity crowds out the other, a balance the Ypsilanti location has maintained since 1972.

Dexter's food and drink scene has grown to include options across multiple categories. 42 North Social House handles the ambitious dinner. Jolly Pumpkin has the brewery and pizza patio.
