Espy Cafe Opens on West Huron
A new local cafe at 404 W Huron St with a serious espresso program and single-origin sourcing.
Espy Cafe began serving customers at 404 West Huron Street in early 2026. By February 24, the Ann Arbor Observer described it as recently opened. A later Daily Coffee News profile documented two Decent DE1XXL espresso machines and coffee sourced through Semilla and Sundog Trading, then roasted at Anthology Coffee in Detroit.
Espy is not currently employee-owned. The founders told Daily Coffee News that worker ownership is a long-term goal restricted for now by the terms of the Small Business Administration loan used for the build-out. Employees make operating decisions democratically, receive equal hourly wages, and share profits according to hours worked. Concentrate reported the democratic workplace structure in March.
Daily Coffee News also reported a scratch-made food menu, including a trout sandwich on house-made taboon flatbread, salads, apple soda made with local cider, and house-made sunflower-oat milk.
Espy Cafe is at 404 W Huron St, Ann Arbor. Check the official cafe site for current hours and menus.
