Little Kim Brings Vegetarian Bowls and a Mini-Mart to Kerrytown

Little Kim opened July 31, 2025 in Kerrytown. Eater Detroit reported the opening date and interviewed chef Ji Hye Kim. The restaurant's current official site lists 403 North Fifth Avenue; early opening coverage used 407 North Fifth Avenue for the same courtyard-facing location.
Kim, the chef-owner of Miss Kim, built Little Kim as a counter-service restaurant with an all-vegetarian menu. Eater's opening report lists build-your-own bowls, kimbap, a fried tofu sandwich, house-made sodas, and rotating produce from Michigan farms. The proteins include tofu, tempeh, beans, chickpeas, and eggs rather than imitation meat.
The restaurant also includes a small market for prepared foods, seasonal kimchi, marinades, and sauces. Eater reported 24 seats, counter ordering, and takeout and delivery service.
Eater also identifies Kim as a five-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Great Lakes and a 2021 Food & Wine Best New Chef.
