Tabe Fusion Opens at 209 South Main With Three Floors of Asian Fusion and Omakase

Fish flown from Japan three times a week. South Main Street just got more competitive.

Tabe Fusion opened on March 13 at 209 South Main Street in Ann Arbor, bringing an Asian fusion and omakase concept across three floors of dining. The restaurant is operated by the 168 Group, based in Madison Heights, and it represents one of the more ambitious new openings downtown this year.

The sushi program is the centerpiece. Fish is flown in from Japan three times a week, a sourcing commitment that signals serious intent. The omakase option gives the kitchen room to work, while the broader Asian fusion menu offers a wider range for diners who want more control over their order.

Three floors is a lot of restaurant for South Main. The address sits right next to Echelon at 200 South Main, which means this stretch of the street now has two high-ambition dining concepts within steps of each other. South Main was already becoming a more interesting corridor for food. Tabe Fusion accelerates that trend.

We will be back with a full assessment once the kitchen has had time to settle in. For now, the sourcing and the scale suggest this is a place worth watching.

Tabe Fusion is at 209 S. Main St, Ann Arbor. Opened March 13, 2025.
